FREESTYLE RULES

  • Keep an eye out at ALL TIMES for other skater’s, be aware of your surroundings and others as well.

  • Skaters, coaches and parents are expected to show courtesy and good sportsmanship to others.

  • A skater experiencing problems with another skaters ice etiquette should approach the management for help.

  • A skater in their program has the right of way, please be courteous and watch out for that skater.

  • The ice is for practice, not socialization. Standing in the corners is to be particularly avoided. Please leave the ice if you wish to socialize or take a break.

  • Music is played on a first come, first serve basis. Program music will be played in the order it’s requested. A coach may request that the program of a skater taking a private lesson be placed at the front of the line.

  • Requests by coaches will alternate with tapes already in line (ex. coach, skater, coach, skater..). Other music must be put at the end of the line.

  • Programs should not be restarted except during a private lesson. A skater wishing to restart their program will have to put their music at the end of the line.

  • Have fellow skaters play your music for you if you cannot do so yourself.

  • Please do not get on the ice until the Olympia doors have been shut.

  • Swearing, name calling, along with other derogatory remarks are prohibited and could result in the ejections of skaters from the ice for the duration of the session.

  • No one is allowed on the ice without skates on!

  • Skaters, parents and visitors are not allowed in the hockey boxes.

  • You MUST sign-in at the front counter for each session you skate on.

  • You may not skate half way through 2 different sessions unless you are in a lesson and it has been approved ahead of time by Kirsten West, Skating Director. Please follow our freestyle schedule appropriately.

  • It is the coach’s responsibility to educate their skaters on the ethics and etiquette of freestyle sessions at Reisterstown Sportsplex!

  • The staff of Reisterstown Sportsplex will enforce these basic rules during all freestyle sessions. All coaches are also expected to inform their students of these rules and enforce these rules when on the ice. The management reserves the right to take disciplinary action if deemed necessary against any skater, coach or parent. Some of the actions that could be taken include, but are not limited to, verbal warnings, time-outs from the ice, or even suspension from the rink.
